Make Chevron Pay!

When an explosion at the Richmond Refinery spewed toxic fumes into the city of Richmond, hundreds of people went to the hospital because they had trouble breathing, chest aches, and sore throats.

Demand that Chevron take all necessary steps to make sure this never happens again and meet these demands:
  • Provide full public disclosure of the cause(s) and solutions to prevent another Richmond Refinery crude unit fire;
  • Upgrade all outdated equipment, and cease blaming the still-pending refinery project delays as fixing the equipment is not part of the public proposal;
  • Ensure that the claims process you have set up to cover residents medical and property costs associated with the August 6th fire is accessible to the entire community and provide public reports as to the success and expediency of the process;
  • Fund an operational warning system for the region,
  • Hire local workers to replace old, polluting, unsafe refinery equipment and repower the refinery with solar installed on-site and in the community—providing renewable energy jobs.
